As the topic for this year’s AGM is “The Dock Management Plan, the Land Act and Our Waterfront” we are delighted to announce that Denise Brynelson, President of the Waterfront Protection Coalition, will be our featured guest speaker.
The Waterfront Protection Coalition (WPC) was formed to respond to the new Dock Management Plan proposed for Pender Harbour as part of the Land Act amendments. The success of the WPC’s efforts is clear in the “What We Heard” report recently released by the Ministry.
The controversial Land Act amendments have been postponed, but it is expected they will resurface after the October provincial election. Concerns remain about these amendments, and about the impacts of the Dock Management Plan across the province on waterfront owners with docks and boathouses. Closer to home, work is proceeding on the North Saanich Official Community Plan which will also have consequential impacts on waterfront properties.
