Dear Waterfront Neighbours,
There will be a special meeting on Monday June 16 to give second reading to the OCP bylaw and we encourage you to attend:

While the new draft does not include all the changes we hoped to see, the tone of the language has improved. The previous proscriptive language has been altered to encourage waterfront owners to maintain and protect our properties in an environmentally sustainable manner. New exemptions in the 15 meter setback now permit basic yardwork and allow for an outdoor seating area. There is even the possibility of applying to have a dock.
Even these modest changes are very encouraging, but we are concerned that if there isn’t enough vocal support for these positive changes they could be rescinded. This is where you come in.
Council responds to what they believe the community wants, so it is important that they see people at the meeting who DO support the changes. Please do your best to come out – even for an hour – on Monday June 16. Even if you don’t feel comfortable speaking, your presence will speak volumes.
